Summary -Thomas wakes up in an elevator that opens to a field full of teenage boys called, “The Glade.” The only thing he remembers is his name, no memories at all. The other boys in the Glade do not know why they are there and why there are in the maze, the only came into the Glade knowing their names. Surrounding the Glade is a vast maze that changes every night. The boys believe that the maze will lead to a way out, so they send maze runners, boys trained to run and record the maze, to try and figure out the maze. The maze is also filled with grievers, terrible monsters that have paralyzing stingers. Thomas believes that something in him can help the boys out of the maze and desperately wants to be a maze runner.
